God speaks, however, sometimes in one way, sometimes in another, and we pay no heed to it. he speaks in dreams, in nocturnal visions,

when men are in a deep sleep, When they are asleep on their beds.

then he gives them warnings And seals his instructions,

  to turn man away from evil and keep him from pride,

to save his soul from the pit And his life from the blows of the sword. (Job 33: 14-18)

Does anything bad happen in a city, Except the Lord has permitted it?

for the Lord GOD does nothing without revealing his secret to his servants the prophets.

  the lion roars: who would not be frightened?

the Lord GOD speaks: who will not prophesy? (Amos 3:6-8)
