From the small Hungarian village of Kisvárda hail two brothers, who enlist in the Hungarian Revolution of 1848. Their excellence as soldiers earns them not only medals, but the respect and admiration of their brethren. But when they run into trouble with the opposition, they must flee their beloved homeland to save not only their lives, but the lives of their family. They set sail for America, but will the wondrous stories they hear of this magical land prove true? Or will their new country prove just as dangerous, if in a different way?
