A lawyer finds himself behind the wheel of a hit-and-run accident, which killed a young girl. While driven to confess and make amends to the girl's family, he instead finds himself falling in love with the girl's mother, whose marriage collapsed after the child's death. Rather than take accountability for his actions, he chooses to pursue her and keep the truth from her - for both his and her own protection.
